INDYCAR IN CALIFORNIA (AGAIN)

SCOTT DIXON - 2ND, TONY KANAAN - 1ST, ED CARPENTER - 3RD

The final race of the season and my favorites did pretty well in this race. Tony Kanaan (a favorite) came in first winning his first race this year. Scott Dixon managed a second place and Ed Carpenter (a favorite) came in third.

Takuma Sato (also a favorite) came in sixth. A heavy accident in practice injured Russian driver Mikhail Aleshin and he has been hospitalized.

Will Power (I still love that name) won the championship for the season.

INDYCAR IN CALIFORNIA

I spoke too quickly when I said that I thought Wisconsin was the last oval race for the season. I totally forgot about the next race in California, which will be the final race of the season. A 500 mile oval race, fast, fast, fast. Today’s race could have ended between laps 40 and 50 and I would have been happy with the result. It helps that this track is one of my favorites of the current tracks they are using. During those laps it was Mike Conway, Tony Kanaan and Takuma Sato (4th) and I really would have liked that. As always with the other half of the race anything can happen. Winner was Scott Dixon, second place went to Ryan Hunter-Reay and Simon Pagenaud in third.

Many cars ran out of fuel on the last lap. Including Mike Conway who had been in 1st and 2nd for a good portion of the race ended up in 14th. Tony Kanaan, who also had been in the top five for a good portion of the race ended up in 13th. Takuma Sato came in 4th.

FORMULA ONE IN BELGIUM

Daniel Ricciardo has done it again, three wins this season. A win in a race that saw many changes in all positions. If the race had been two laps longer the results would have been different. Second went to Nico Rosberg who was clipping two seconds a lap off of Ricciardo’s lead, two more laps would have done it. Vallerti Bottas came in third for another podium finish. He is having a good season and will be one to watch in the future.

Biggest disappointment of the day was that Rosberg bumped his teammate, Hamilton, giving him a flat tire which cost him any good position and he retired in the end. The story goes that Rosberg did it on purpose. Whoa! This isn’t NASCAR where a bump and a smack can go unnoticed. This is open-wheel where such a stunt could have fatal results. My disappointment comes from the fact that I like Rosberg and this will cost him the respect that he has worked so hard for.

INDYCAR IN WISCONSIN

WILL POWER

I want to think this is the last oval of the year, Will Power came in first which puts him at a 39 point lead for the championship. Another Penske car came in second with Juan Pablo Montoya at the wheel. My man, Tony Kanaan came in third.

Ed Carpenter, who is planning to merge with Sarah Fisher Racing next season, came in 9th. Takuma Sato held up for 15th place.
