ZANARDI WINS THE GOLD AGAIN

Alex Zanardi wins another gold medal in Rio at the Para-Olympic games. At 49 years old he is nothing short of fantastic. A former Formula One driver at the time racing in the CART series (prelude to the IndyCar series) lost both his legs in an accident in Germany in 2001. He tried to re-enter racing in the rally series with specially built car, but ended up in wheelchair racing. It is a great story and if you don't know it you should Google his name. A Champion of Champs.

INDYCAR IN CALIFORNIA

A double whammy for Simon Pagenaud, he not only won today's final race of the season he also won the championship. He was up against Will Power for the championship, but it wasn't to be. Will Power had transmission trouble and that ended that. Second place went to Graham Rahal and third went to Juan Pablo Montoya.

Tony Kanaan and Takuma Sato ended up in 13th and 14th.

It is going to be interesting to see how many of these drivers can hang on for next season. It seems like there is going to be a lot of movement to other teams and out of the series.

FORMULA ONE IN SINGAPORE

DANIEL RICCIARDO, 2ND - MERCEDES MANAGEMENT - NICO ROSBERG, 1ST  - LEWIS HAMILTON, 3RD

The race in the harvest moon. Even with the struggles of Mercedes they were still able to come in 1st and 3rd with the ever-smiling Ricciardo in 2nd.

The Ferrari team came in 4th and 5th with Vettel giving a great drive from last place to 5th.

Nico Hulkenberg was out in the first 50 yards after being hit and forced into the pit wall. Massa finished 12th.

The Haas Team Gutierrez finished 11th and Grosjean didn't finish with a 22nd spot.

INDYCAR IN NEW YORK

One of my favorite tracks ever and it is great to see IndyCar back there. Of course, in the old days you could sit almost on top of the track. I saw many a great Formula One race there...yes, that long ago. The winner was Scott Dixon follow by Josef Newgarden and Helio Castroneves.

Sato came in 17th and Kanaan 19th. A beautiful day in New York.

FORMULA ONE IN ITALY

LEWIS HAMILTON, 2ND - NICO ROSBERG, 1ST - SEBASTIAN VETTEL, 3RD

As happens at Monza the race gets too spread out. Rosberg got the jump and stayed there. Followed by Hamilton and Vettel. Also, as happens at Monza the track was packed with people looking for a Ferrari win. Most popular guy of the day,,,,,Vettel in Ferrari.

Massa and Hulkenburg finished 9th and 10th. The Haas team finished 11th and 13th.

Massa and Button both announced their retirement from Formula One at the end of this season. Sorry to see them go.
