We all have a favorite classic car or motorcycle that we can't get out of our systems. As an experiment I would like you to send an e-mail to bizsite@hotmail.com and tell me your favorite classic. Maybe it is one that you own, one that you have owned or one that you would like to own.
One word in the subject line: "FAVORITE" and the year, make and model in the text body. A couple of weeks down the road I will mention the winner or if there is a large response I can shoot for the top five. Not even 30 seconds of your time. Enjoy your Easter holiday.

MOTOR ART........LARRY GROSSMAN
Larry Grossman’s professional art career began at age 15 when he purchased his first airbrush and began painting wild designs on T-shirts at car shows, occasionally working for the famous “King of the Kustomizers” George Barris. This early income enabled him to buy his first car, a Chevy powered '29 Ford hot rod. Moving from L.A. to Berkeley in the psychedelic 60’s, he studied film and photography, graduating from the California College of the Arts. “Rude Vagabond”, an animated film he single handedly created won the Grand Prize at the joint CCAC/San Francisco Art Institute Film Festival. He also wrote, directed and produced the feature film “The Big Sleeze”. Both films have toured extensively on the national “Midnight Movie” circuit.
In 1981 the Disney Studios enticed Larry back to L.A. to work as a designer on their landmark first computerized film, “TRON”. Freelancing in the 80’s and 90’s he created many logos, illustrations, and merchandise designs for major studios including Disney, Warner Bros., and DreamWorks. He also illustrated three album covers for legendary musician Frank Zappa, and one for Hank Williams Jr.. Through his firm "Art Attack" Larry also designed and sold innovative giftware, furniture, and other interior decor.
In the early '90’s Larry became enthralled with the creative potential of the computer, and as a result put his airbrush and paints aside. His current digital work combines his love of architecture, design, and photography with his passion for the styles of the 1920’s-50’s (he drives a '32 Ford hot rod and a self-restored '61 Nash Metro convertible, and collects vintage clothes). Over the years he has amassed an extensive catalog of his own photos, which he is now using (exclusively) to create his art in an entirely new and imaginative way. Combining these photos with state of the art digital painting techniques, he has created a look and style which is uniquely his own.
Larry’s artwork is distributed through his company “RetroVisions” and is becoming quite collectable. It is currently exhibited at galleries and museums worldwide, including the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Museum in Pomona California, and the famed Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. His images are also being published as calendars, puzzles, mouse pads, and much more.

INDYCAR IN FLORIDA
The first race of the season for IndyCar did not disappoint. James Hinchcliffe, Go-Daddy, both won their first race for IndyCar. Helio Castroneves, who always does well here, came in second and Marco Andretti pulled in third. So, first and third to the Andretti Team cars. My favorite drivers for the last couple of years, Takuma Sato and Tony Kanaan, finished 8th and 4th repectively.

FORMULA ONE IN MALAYSIA
WEBBER - VETTEL - HAMILTON
Do you see any smiles here? Shouldn't they be smiling since they are on the podium? Are the fans smiling? Doubt it very much. I probably shouldn't say anything since I am biased toward Webber....on the good side. Webber has been my favorite driver for a few years now. Anyway, they are not smiling because none of them are in the place they should be in.
Let's start with Sebastian Vettel, last years World Champion, the sniveling, whining, little boy who has the great gift of being able to drive. He kept asking the team to let him pass Webber claiming that Webber was too slow. Not the case. If they had done that they would have had to ask Webber to back off and let Vettel through. In their wisdom they did not fall for that.tactic. Thirteen laps out from the end Webber had to make a pit stop and when he came out he was neck n' neck with Vettel. The team, not wanting to risk an accident (which has happened before), asked both drivers to start shutting down to preserve the engine and tires and finish the way they were. Which would have had Webber the winner, which he deserved since leading most of the race. Vettel decided to ignore orders and challenged Webber who was already shutting down. While is was exciting to watch, everyone knew this was not cool. I think Vettel has been hanging around with Michael Schumacher too much.
Mark Webber, well, what can I say. He got pimped and he has been getting pimped right along. He is very vocal and while Vettel wanted nothing said publicly Webber made sure the fans and the world knew what happened. Webber will probably pay the price for being outspoken....I am sure he can live with it.
Lewis Hamilton, who was asked to conserve fuel, had to slow down and his teammate, Nico Rosberg, was faster and asked to pass, but was refused. I think this was a mistake on Mercedes part, but they are paying Hamilton the big money and want results....on paper anyway. A bitter pill for both to swallow since they have raced together since they were kids.....and genuinely like each other. Hamilton acknowledged that the spot belonged to Rosberg.
It ended up with Vettel - 1st, Webber - 2nd, Hamilton - 3rd. It should have been Webber - 1st, Vettel - 2nd and Rosberg - 3rd. Next race is in China....I hope they get this stuff sorted out.

FORMULA ONE IN AUSTRALIA
KIMI RAIKKONEN
Race Day, 2013. I think most of us that are interested in open-wheeled racing were waiting for today. A hard day for me because the 12 Hours of Sebring was broadcast until 5 AM and then the opener of Formula One started at 8 AM in my time-zone. Ouch, but I was happy to see it and reasonablely happy with the outcome. It was a long day for these guys because they had to qualify in the morning due to heavy rains on Saturday.
Former World Champion, Kimi Raikkonen, who last year I said it would be just a matter of time, won today's race. A two-stop strategy was the clincher because Alonso's car was faster and closing in at the end. Fernando Alonso glided into second. Sebastian Vettel, who started out on the pole position, came in third. Three former World Champions on the podium. I hope that Raikkonen stays in the mix all season.
They started the race one driver short, well, three actually if you count the missing HRT team. Nico Hulkenberg from Sauber was unable to start due of problems with the car that were uncorrectable before the race.
Drivers of note for this race are Felipi Massa and Adrian Sutil. Massa drove a steady race and ended up in 4th. Kind of picking up where he left off last year as his year got better and better. Sutil, who had missed the 2012 season, started in 11th and ended up in first a couple of times. Still having another pitstop knocked him out of that. After that stop he appeared to be having tire trouble and everyone was passing him. He ended up in 7th, but if the race had been longer he would have been out of the points. He was one of the last to get a seat this year and I am glad that Force India saw fit to bring him back.
On to Malaysia next week and the start of IndyCar in Florida.

I am a Montanan - Bozeman - living in Stuttgart, Germany. I have lived in Germany for the last 13 years.
Though I do have a considerable background in art - instruction at the university level - mechanical and architectural drawing/drafting, my primary area of study was literature. Here in Germany, though, my focus has been on painting.

IF YOU ARE TRAVELING....
If you are hanging around Detroit this weekend you should take in the 50th Detroit Autorama. A lot of the cars and owners who won in the last 50 years will be there. When I was young I always liked to take in this show. It just got bigger and bigger and now has almost 900 cars. That is a lot of metal and a lot of hard work. Check it out:

UP TO THE LAST MINUTE
Force India finally made its decision on the second driver. It was Adrian Sutil who had been with them from the beginning until sitting out 2012. A good choice on their part, I think. He had to test against the Force India test driver, Jules Bianchi. It turned out to be Bianchi's lucky day...losing out with Force India and then getting picked up to replace Luiz Razia on the Marussia team. Razia had been signed a contract with Marussia only a month ago. I guess we will hear what really happened some where down the line. Season starts in Australia on March 17th.
