Meanwhile, back in Detroit, the cars are rolling in for the Dream Cruise which officially starts this coming weekend. Some come several weeks early to do their thing. So, now it is regulated to one weekend out of the year. Which is expanded on both sides of that weekend. In the late fifties into the Sixties the "cruise" on Woodward Avenue was an every night thing. The entire 27-mile length of Woodward was paved in 1916 and in 1919 the three-color traffic light appeared on the Avenue. The communities involved still, after all these years, haven't figured out how to make any money at doing this.
