1967 LOLA T70
1967 Lola T70 Mk.3 Chassis number SL73/119was originally produced in Spyder form and was one of two cars built and delivered new to the Dana Corporation in the USA, Both cars were destined to compete in the 1967 Can-Am Series, one car driven by Lothar Motschenbacher and the other, this one, driven by Peter Revson carrying the number 52 for the season. 1967 returned mixed results, bearing in mind at this point the Mk3 was at the end of its competitive life, and was used subsequently in SCCA and USRRC championship races. By 1978 the car had been sold to Chuck Haines, who then sold it to Ian Webb of Norhtdown Racing in the UK. Several drivers, including Willie Green, John Brindley and Ian Taylor, then raced the car and by 1987 it was sold again, following a rebuild by Rod Butterfield who transferred the car from its original Spyder form into a closed Coupe. At this point the car was purchased by Ben Huissman of Holland and resided in the Huissman collection until acquired by the current owner. The car was then fully rebuilt by Clive Robinson and returned to correct Mk3 specification, with gull wing doors and the correct nose and tail sections. A new 5-litre Chevrolet engine was fitted at this time. The car was run in Group 4 series and European Sports Prototype Series, the highlights of which include a 3rd place at the 2003 Le Mans support race (despite a faulty shock absorber), a first place finish at Killarney, South Africa, and an impressive outright race victory at Monza. In 2006 the car was completely stripped and rebuilt, again by Clive Robinson, and returned to race ready condition. The car stands today absolutely on the button and ready to go with HTP Papers. This represents an excellent opportunity to acquire the ex Peter Revson 1967 Lola T70 Mk3.
