TAKUMA SATO
'HOORAY!' This is the day I have been waiting for. Waiting for Takuma Sato to have a win under his belt. After being released from his team last year I was afraid that he would not get picked up this year. Which happens to so many very fine drivers. The granddaddy of all racers, A. J. Foyt, picked him up and put his trust in him. Not only was this Sato's first IndyCar win it was the first race won by a Japanese driver. Let's hope it is the first of many.
For the Foyt team it was the first win since 2002.
Graham Rahal, driving for this father's team this year, drove a very steady race which brought him in second place. By the size of the smile on his face I think he was very happy. I'm sure that Bobby Rahal was very happy too.
Third place went to Justin Wilson from Dale Coyne Racing. What a race it was for him...he started out in 24th place. I have only seen a handful of drivers that can start at the back of the pack and end up so well.
Everyone knows that Takuma Sato is my favorite followed by Tony Kanaan. So, how did Tony do? On lap 78 of 80 he stuffed his car into one of the tire barriers. Allowing Sato to cruise to the finish under caution.
