FORMULA ONE IN RUSSIA

NICO ROSBERG - 2ND, PADDY LOWE FROM MERCEDES, LEWIS HAMILTON - 1ST, VALTTERI BOTTAS -3RD

The Russian head of state, Putin, made a full race showing and gave the winner, Lewis Hamilton, his prize. Bernie Ecclestone, in a rare full race appearance...hasn't seen a full race in years...sat with Putin throughout the race. Coming in second was Hamilton's teammate, Nico Rosberg. Third went to Valtteri Bottas.

Mercedes clinched the championship for the Constructor's points. That was a given at some point since Hamilton or Rosberg have been 1st or 2nd in almost every race. Hamilton has also tied with Nigel Mansel for the most races won by a British driver. Thirty, I think. His next win will give him the record free and clear.

ANDREA DE CESARIS........1959 - 2014

He started 208 races in his Formula 1 career between 1980 and 1994, but never won a Grand Prix, a record for the most races without a win.
He drove for British-based team McLaren for one season in 1981 and also raced for teams including Jordan, Brabham, Dallara and Alfa Romeo.
De Cesaris won world championship points for nine of the 10 teams he raced for and finished on the podium five times.
In 1982, aged 22, he became the then-youngest driver to start a Grand Prix from the front of the grid after he took his sole career pole, with Alfa Romeo, at the US West round.
Following his F1 career, he raced in the Grand Prix Masters series for two seasons in 2005 and 2006 alongside veterans including Nigel Mansell, Emerson Fittipaldi and Ricardo Patrese.

FORMULA ONE IN JAPAN

NICO ROSBERG, 2ND - LEWIS HAMILTON, 1ST - SEBASTIAN VETTEL, 3RD

A shortened, very wet, race. On his eighth attempt in Japan Hamilton finally has come up with a win. His teammate, Rosberg came in second. Sebastian Vettel, who announced that he would leave Red Bull at the end of the season, came in third.

The race was stopped on lap 44 due to an accident that left Jules Bianchi with a major head injury. Driving for Marussia under a loan agreement from Red Bull he struck a recovery crane that was picking up another wrecked car. It has been said that he was going to go to Ferrari at the end of the season.
