INDYCAR IN TEXAS - RACE TWO

SIMON PAGENAUD

Simon Pagenaud and his teammate, Russian Mikhail Aleshin, came in 1st and 2nd for their teams very first 1st/2nd finish. Third place went to Jack Hawksworth who had started in last place. Always a feat in itself.

Another feat was the face that in the two races in Houston all four rookies to Indycar had podium finishes. Amazing. Huertas, Munoz, Aleshin and Hawksworth.

Tony Kanaan had a top ten finish of 10th and Takuma Sato made it 3/4's of the race before going out due to contact.

INDYCAR IN TEXAS - RACE ONE

JUAN PABLO MONTOYA, 2ND, CARLOS HUERTAS, 1ST, CARLOS MUNOZ, 3RD

In not the best of conditions, rainy weather, Carlos Huertas won his very first race. He started at the back of the pack in 19th and led the last seven laps under caution....a win is a win. Juan Pablo Montoya came in second and is having a great season after being away for 14 years. Carlos Munoz, another one having a great season, came in third.

Tony Kanaan came in 13th and Takuma Sato was 22nd after an accident half-way through the race after leading for several laps

FORMULA ONE IN AUSTRIA

NICO ROSBERG

Mercedes, again, on the top of the charts. Nico Rosberg, who has now had more wins than his father, came in first by 1.9 seconds over his teammate Lewis Hamilton. These Mercedes are always very close to each other this season. Third place went to Valtteri Bottas from Williams and his teammate, Massa, came in 4th. A great job by both of them. It would be nice to see Williams back in the mix again.

I always like this track and it is the first time Formula One has been here in 11 years.

I'M OK

THUMBS-UP FROM FELIPE MASSA

Massa and Perez both get a clean bill of health. The accident apparently caused by Perez who will get a five place penalty in the next race. I am happy to hear that both are doing okay.

FORMULA ONE IN CANADA

DANIEL RICCIARDO

Canada, Oh, Canada! Finally a race that had me on the edge of my seat and got me on my feet for the last few laps. Nico Rosberg, who started on the pole and for practical purposes led most of the race had some kind of power failure in the last few laps. I was hoping that he would win, but I am just as happy that Daniel Ricciardo took the plunge and won his first Grand Prix. It was only a matter of time. Rosberg was able to hang on to second and Sebastian Vettel came in third. I am sure Vettel was happy with that since his season has had many problems. It is rare to see a bad race in Canada and they didn't disappoint.

In the very last lap Massa crashed into Perez and both of them went into the wall. It was on youtube within minutes, but immediately blocked by Formula One. It was a very heavy crash and when it happens in the last lap it takes a while to find out what happend. After a first lap crash the cars got strung out in single file and I was afraid that would be it. I was sure wrong about that, very exciting.

INDYCAR IN TEXAS

ED CARPENTER

I am so happy with the result of this race. The Ed Carpenter Racing Team is my favorite under-dog team of the season. A two lap shootout leaving Carpenter with the win. He was followed by Will \power, on fresh tires, only by 0.5247. Third went to returning race driver Juan Pablo Montoya...his best finish in his new season.

I did notice that this high-speed oval race was poorly attended. They have reduced the amount of ovals that they will race this year. Maybe they will become a thing of the past.

Tony Kanaan ended up in sixth place and Takuma Sato took another 18th place after his car caught on fire ending up 10 laps down.

INDYCAR IN MICHIGAN - RACE TWO

HELIO CASTRONEVES - WINNER IN DETROIT RACE TWO

Detroit's Roger Penske has got to be a happy man. His drivers, Helio Castroneves and Will Power, came in First and second after a 3 lap shootout. Third went to Charlie Kimbal which may be is highest finish. Don't hold me to that. Kimbal is an interesting guy. He suffers from diabetes and has a very strict diet and insulin program.

Tony Kanaan came in 9th and Takuma Sato ended in the same spot as yesterday, 18th and one lap down due to an accident and a spin out.

INDYCAR IN MICHIGAN - RACE ONE

WILL POWER - RACE ONE IN DETROIT

Indycar, famous for its last laps shoot outs, had a 10 lap shoot out in my hometown of Detroit. Divided into two separate races the winner of race one was Will Power. Nice for hometown team owner Roger Penske. Racing on the island of Belle Isle, now a State Park, is different than the days of Formula One racing on the streets of downtown Detroit. They have been trying to make the island more fan friendly. Will Power, in this shoot out, beat Graham Rahal by .3308 seconds, not enough to sneeze, but enough to win. Tony Kanaan came in third.

Takuma Sato had an accident early on and struggled the whole race ending in 18th place, 5 laps down. He may have been 5 laps down, but that didn't prevent him from having the fastest lap which puts him on the pole position for race two.
