TUESDAY'S SPECIAL

1959 Porsche 356 T2 Coupe

Here is the popular collectable T-2 body California A coupe. Last year for the A model and a very collectable example this one has a beautiful feel when sitting behind the wheel and is a real pleasure when driving with a nice quiet ride and smooth shifting transmission this car will put a smile on your face. Just what you would hope for in a California car with a solid original floor pan this one is of collector caliber having its factory original numbered non kinked hood and excellent panel fit all the way around this one should pass the test if you look for a U.S. delivered car with over rider tubes and guards. Finished nicely in silver paint with a red interior and chrome wheels the car is very presentable for operating, showing and has the integrity of a good car to the knowledgeable Porsche enthusiast.

FORMULA ONE IN SOUTH KOREA

FERNANDO ALONSO IN THE DARK

In the rain, in the dark, what a race. South Korea's brand new track opened to hours of pouring rain. Rarely is Formula One stopped from starting on time, but today was it. The race was delayed well over an hour. It was supposed to start at 9:00 AM and I went to the bar that I usually watch it from at 8:00. An English breakfast and several beers later it finally ended.

My guy, Webber, crashed out and with that it knocked him out of the lead for the championship. They were able to run the complete race under the time limit with a full 50% of the cars being wrecked at some point. The brand new track was still laying down the black-top last Sunday and there weren't any lights around the track. Because of the delay, the last few laps were run in the dark. Going 200 miles per hour on a wet winding road in the dark doesn't appeal to me, but sure was interesting to watch. These guys do have brass balls.

Alonso from Ferrari won the race and it put him in the lead for the championship. Followed by Lewis Hamilton in 2nd and Massa in 3rd. With that there is now only four that could pull off the championship in the last two races coming up. They are Alonso, Webber, Hamilton and Vettel. I would love to see Webber get it. But it is what it is....and anything can happen.

Historical Perspective:

The legendary “Gullwing” coupe was the first true sports car to be developed by Daimler-Benz after World War II. The development of the car was initiated by Max Hoffman, a US citizen of Austrian descent, who had been the official importer of Mercedes-Benz cars since September 1952. For the board of directors of Daimler-Benz, Hoffman's plan to sell sports cars with the Mercedes star on the hood, was a welcome opportunity to open the US market for Daimler-Benz. In September 1953 the development of the 300 SL was launched. The series production version of the 300 SL, which was presented in February 1954 at the "International Motor Sports Show" in New York, was based on a race car from the 1952 season. Production started late in 1954 and over the course of three years only 1400 cars were produced. Sought after by collectors, this car continues to be an icon of timeless design.

Chassis no: 198.040-55-00339, Fire Engine Red / Natural Leather

TUESDAY'S SPECIAL

1957 ASTON MARTIN DB2/4 MKIII

This Aston Martin DB2/4 MKIII with chassis number AM300/3/1315 is first registered at the 8th of may 1957. It has been sold by agent Societe Mirabeau in France. It is very rare to have an original European Aston Martin DB2/4 MKII with for example kilometer indicators. The Aston Martin is full matching, even the engine as well as the body colour and interior are still in the same specification as it was when the car was newly delivered in 1957. This Aston DB 2/4 MKIII with chassis number AM/300/3/1315 is one of the only 150 cars with the original early back lights which makes this example very rare. Although the former French owner, the engine has been completely rebuild. Furthermore this Aston has an overdrive which makes the car very usable on longer trips. The chrome on the Aston has been renewed. In combination with the beautiful paintwork (original Imperial Crimson Red) is the car looking very impressive. A lot of money has been spend on this Aston to make it an extremely nice, unique but above all original specification car.

FORMULA ONE IN JAPAN

VETTEL HAS THE WIN IN JAPAN

A hard day's work in Japan. Due to heavy rain the qualifying period on Saturday was cancelled until race day morning. So, they had to qualify in the morning to race in the afternoon. Sounds like a lot of work and a lot of tention.

Before the first turn 20% of the cars were wiped out. Could that have been from someone being too tired?Vettel, from Red Bull, was the pole and race winner. One second behind him was my choice, Mark Webber, and third went to Alonso from Ferrari.

With only three races left, and five guys in the running for the championship, they should be interesting. Next up is Korea, if it is ready, then Brazil and Abu Daubi. Those in the lead are Webber, Vettel, Alonso, Button and Hamilton. But only one can win it.

INDYCAR IN FLORIDA - THE LAST OF THE SEASON

DANICA PATRICK-2ND, SCOTT DIXON-1ST AND TONY KANAAN-3RD

After flip-floping leaders, Scott Dixon pulls off a win. But the real race was for second place. It had everyone on their feet. Danica Patrick against her teammate Tony Kanaan. Tony can come from anywhere in the field, even last place, and lead the race as he did for a time here. Danica had her best race of the season and did a great job of getting second place.

The other draw of the race was the fact that it was for the championship between Will Power, who had led all season, against Dario Franchitti (Mr. Ashley Judd). Power's race ended with damage to his car and Dario became the champion by 5 points.
