INDYCAR IN OHIO

I spent many-a-day at this race track in the 60's and 70's and it remains one of my favorites. Today's winner was Josef Newgarden. Will Power came in second and hometown favorite, Graham Rahal, came in third.

Takuma Sato came in 5th and Tony Kanaan came in 16th. Ed Jones was running at the end, but in dead last. Ed Carpenter's team ended in 17th and 19th.

FORMULA 'E' IN MONTREAL - RACE TWO

I am pretty happy with this race. Jean-Eric Vergne got his first win in the series and he has been on board since the third race in 2014. Rosenqvist and Lopez were second and third. This is the end of their series for the year.....starting again in December.

Nick Heidfeld came in 5th, Piquet in 16th and Prost did not finish. I hope that they have more tracks like this one next year.
Nothing can take away from your first win like another driver winning the championship. But, it is what it is. Lucus DiGrassi won the championship after finishing third two years ago, second last year and today the big one. I am happy with that too.

FORMULA ONE IN HUNGARY

I always liked this track, but it is older and a little hard for the cars to pass each other. Which sometimes makes for a 'ho-hum' race. Sebastian Vettel came in first which also leaves him in the lead for the championship. His team-mate Kimi Riakkonen came in second. Bottas came in third after his team-mate gave up the spot to him. Bottas had given up the spot to let Hamilton so he could challenge Vettel and Riakkonen. It didn't work and he gave the spot back....very rare.

Also, rare, Massa was off sick today. Nico Hulkenberg's car died in the last couple of laps leaving him in 17th. The Haas Team ended with one car in 13th and the other did not finish. Alonso, after years of suffering with McLaren, came in 6th. Good job.

FORMULA 'E' IN MONTREAL - RACE ONE

Another first-time track. I like this track a lot compared to some of the others that they are using. Lucus DiGrassi came in first and I always liked the look of his car. Second went to Jean-Eric Vergne and third went to Sarrazin.

Prost and Piquet finished in 6th and 13th. Nick Heidfeld did not finish.

INDYCAR IN CANADA

JOSEF NEWGARDEN

This was certainly a topsy-turvy race. Check out to highlight video which will explain it better than I can. Josef Newgarden was the winner and it was his second time in the last couple of years. In second place a very happy Alexander Rossi. James Hitchcliffe rolled into third.

Ed Carpenter's team finished 13th and 18th. Takuma Sato - 16th, Tony Kanaan - 18th and Ed Jones - 20th, but out of the race on lap 75.

FORMULA 'E' IN NEW YORK CITY - RACE TWO

SAM BIRD

Sam Bird was lucky enough to win both races in New York. Beautiful weather with plenty of people watching. Felix Rosenqvist came in second and I was very happy to have Nick Heidfeld come in third. He has a lot of Formula One under his belt.

Prost - 6th, Vergne - 8th, Piquet - 16th. Off to two races in Montreal at the end of the month.

FORMULA ONE IN ENGLAND

LEWIS HAMILTON

Lewis Hamilton is not my favorite driver, but the man can sure drive. Each race he is breaking new records....some as old as 60 years, 40 years and 25 years. Just in this race alone. In pole position he was off to never look back. Winning his home Grand Prix. His teammate, Valtteri Bottas, came in second which happens all too often. Third went to Kimi Raikkonen who is breaking some records of his own.

Nico Hulkenberg did a fantastic job of holding sixth place. Massa finished tenth and the Haas Team finished 12th and 13th.

FORMULA 'E' IN NEW YORK CITY - RACE ONE

SAM BIRD

After a week of continuous computer problems I am finally back online. I finally ran into Formula E again. They have such a weird schedule that I kept missing them. This week was their maiden trip into New York City. Surprising that there were so many people there. This series might make it in spite of themselves. They have several drivers that I like pretty well....the ones that have been pushed out of Formula One for one reason or another. Nick Heidfeld, Prost, Vergne and Piquet. The cars are nice looking with good color combinations. The teams are owned by car and tractor manufactures, some former racecar drivers and some team owners from other series.

First place went to Sam Bird who has raced in every race since Formula E began three years ago. Second place went to Jean-Eric Vergne who came from the Toro Roso Red Bull Team in Formula One. Stephane Sarrazin came in third.

INDYCAR IN IOWA

HILDEBRAND, CASTRONEVES AND HUNTER-REAY

Just like in 'Field of Dreams,' build it and they will come. Push the corn stalks aside and "poof" there it is. A small oval that reminds you of the tracks in the 50's at only 7/8 of a mile. Just turn left and keep on turning. It was the 30th win for Helio Castroneves and this is going to be his retirement year. Well, at least for Indycar and everyone will be sorry to see him go. Happy, friendly and extremely poplar guy that will be missed. It seems amazing to me that this was the first time the Penske team has won here. J.R. Hilldebrand, from my current favorite team, came in second. Ryan Hunter-Reay coasted into third.

Tony Kanaan came in 9th and Takuma Sato was 16th. Ed Carpenter, also from my favorite team, came in 12th. Rookie Ed Jones, who I have been watching, came in 18th.

FORMULA ONE IN AUSTRIA

VETTEL, BOTTAS AND RICCIARDO

I like this old Formula One track. The race today lacked the excitement of Azerbaijan two weeks ago. Bottas collected his second Formula One win right from the pole position. Vettel came in second and, of course, claiming that if the race was a little longer he would have won. Maybe so. Daniel Ricciardo came in third and is doing quite nicely in the points with his podium (five times this season) finish consistency.  No surprises with 4th and 5th, but what is surprising is the rest of the top ten. Sixth place went to Romain Grosjean of the Haas Team which is something special for the team. Seventh and eighth went to the Force India team who have really been doing good this year. Ninth and tenth went to the Williams team with Massa in 9th.

Nico Hulkenberg had a rough day again and ended up in 13th and the other Haas car did not finish.
