AFFORDABLE WHEELS

1950 Buick
1960 Mercedes

Pedal cars are more popular than ever. Not only for children, but adults alike. They make quite an aray of cars which include Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, Audi TT Cabriolet, BMW M6 Convertible, Ferrari, Jaguar XK, Mercedes-Benz SL, Porsche Cayenne Turbo and 911, Renault Mégane Trophy Tuning and Volvo C70. Renault makes several different models including one of their Formula One car.

Some of these new ones have a push-push pedal system and others have proper pedals, adjustable seats, working horns and handbrakes. Wow! Prices range from $150 to $350. One thing I don't like is that they are all made out of very durable plastic.

The metal pedal cars from the 20's through the 60's are hot items at the auto auctions and some at pretty hefty prices. They hold shows for pedal cars only selling restored, unrestored and parts. I have a small collection in the States that are unrestored. There are some great restorers around. One of the best I have seen is from the Amish community. There are still companies making metal cars based on the old ones, but they are just not the same.
