LONDON TO BRIGHTON

Said to be the oldest motor car event in the world. First run in November 1896, in the rain of course, and run most years since then. It is only a drive of 54 miles, but in these early buggies it must seem like a long way.

They were expecting over 500 cars to make the run. With a couple of stops along the way it must have been great fun. I wonder if anyone kept track of how many were run in the rain. I'll bet there were quite a few.

77 cars failed to finish the run. All cars must be produced before 1905. Boy, we sure love our cars.
