FORMULA ONE IN INDIA

ROSBERG, 2ND - VETTEL, 1ST - GROSJEAN, 3RD

There just isn't any stopping him. Vettel went on to win his 6th race in a row and clinch the championship, fourth in a row. He is the youngest driver to win four championships in a row. Good going!

Nico Rosberg had a very strong race which brought him into second. Grosjean, while not winning, had to feel like the driver of the day. He started in 17th and ended up in 3rd.

Mark Webber was ordered to stop his car on lap 40. I was thinking that he got the short end of the stick, but apparently there was a real problem with his car. I am sure that he was agreeing with me at the time.

2013 INDYCAR CHAMPION......SCOTT DIXON

That last race in California was also the deciding race for the Championship. With only two contenders and a 25 point spread it was a battle within a battle. Helio Castroneves, the trailing contender, started off in 12th place and ended up in 6th.

It just wasn't enough, Scott Dixon started in a worrisome 17th place and ended up in 5th, with a 27 point spread gaining his third Championship win.

INDYCAR IN CALIFORNIA

ED CARPENTER, 2ND -WILL POWER, 1ST - TONY KANAAN, 3RD

California...the final race of the Indycar season. Will Power, who has been having his share of problems this season, came in 1st place by sheer will power. He beat Ed Carpenter, who won last years race, by only 1.4883 seconds. A little something to get the crowd to its feet. True Indycar fashion. I was very happy to see Tony Kanaan come in third. The 2013 Indy 500 winner has his first podium finish all season.

Will Power will stay with the Penske team for next season. As will Ed Carpenter since he owns the team. Tony Kanaan will be switching teams, going back to Target Racing.

Takuma Sato was having problems right along. Starting in last place his car finally gave up the ghost completing only 144 laps leaving him in 17th place.

SEAN EDWARDS.........1986 - 2013

A WIN EARLIER THIS YEAR

Sean Edwards, a promising British driver and the son of former Formula One driver Guy Edwards, died Tuesday in a crash during training. He was 26.

Edwards, the Supercup Championship leader, was in the passenger seat as an instructor for a private training session at Queensland Raceway at Willowbank, outside Brisbane, Porsche Motorsport said.

His father was credited with pull Niki Lauda out of his burning car in 1976. He played the role of his father in the new Formula One movie 'RUSH.'

SPECIAL OF THE WEEK

1958 Berkeley SE328, This car was a total professional restoration as noted in the before and after pictures. Every part was removed, new resin applied to all the fiberglass, totally rewired, every part gone over and redone.

The car was most famous, in the states, for its successful racing history and at $1695 was a very affordable winner of its class. I restored it to the racing format, but it can easily be changed to a neat little sports car with wheel covers, tonneau cover and removal of the vinyl numbers.( I have a new tonneau cover and very nice original wheel covers and spinner option)

It is a museum quality restoration and has won the “Peoples Choice Award at the 2012 Watkins Glen Vintage Weekend, Councourse de Elegance and also its class (ZS) at Britian on the Green, in Washington, D.C. at the Gunston Hall, 2013. It has also been invited back to the Concourse at Watkins for 2013. It is one of the ten best remaining Berkeley SE328 cars in existance.

It was purchased in Tyrone, Pa. and the Owners Manual is included. Many original issues of advertising for the car are included, complete Service Manual, many past issues of Berkeley Exchange, USA , newspaper articles on the car, Shop Manuals, hub caps and spinners, and much more. The car even includes the original rear view mirror, and I have not seen one of those on any other restorations. The book, Berkeley Sportscars-Limited Edition, from England, is also included.

It was complete when found in a friends shed and had been parked there since 1976. The last inspection sticker is still on the windshield, dated July 31, 1976. It still has the original Michelin tires and a new set has been purchased and mounted on Berkeley wheels, for road use. The originals are in very good condition and mounted on there own set of wheels.

I have attached many pictures of the Berkeley, but it must be seen to really be appreciated. I would consider delivering the car and all the mateials, to the new owner, if within a resonable distance from my location. Feel free to ask any questions or if you need additional pictures I will be glad to provide them.

If you want to have a beautifully restored car that very few have ever seen, this is the one. Always the “hit” of the show.

FORMULA ONE IN JAPAN

REMI TAFFIN, FROM RENAULT - MARK WEBBER, 2ND - SEBASTIAN VETTEL, 1ST - ROMAIN GROSJEAN, 3RD

Japan is a great track, being one of the old ones, built in 1962. I still like these old tracks from Europe, Asia and the Americas. Webber and Vettel started 1st and 2nd respectively and both got off to a poor start which left Grosjean out in front. He stayed there for quite a while, but gave it up to Vettel. In the last laps Webber passed him also, but Vettel was too far in the lead to make a difference.

They are cutting this fuel allotment pretty close. Grosjean ran out of fuel just as he crossed the finish line. Rosberg didn't get much further.

Alonso came in 4th and was too close to let Vettel win the Championship. Maybe he will get it in India for the next race which I will be watching in Mongolia in Russian.

OUCH!

I got to have a double-header during Formula One from Japan I was also able to watch MOTO GP from Malayasia. I don't follow the bikes that much although some years I was better at knowing who was who. This was a tremendous accident. You wonder how they can survive such things.

MARIA DE VILLOTA.........1980 - 2013

Former test driver for Marussia Formula One team lost her life over this weekend. She was the daughter of former F1 driver Emilio deVillota (1976 - 1982). Last year she was injured in an accident while testing leaving her with a fractured skull and the loss of one eye. Recently married and out promoting a newly written book, she apparently died of natural causes.

IF YOU ARE TRAVELING THIS WEEKEND

If you are traveling this weekend and find yourself near Chandler, Arizona treat yourself to the Bob Bondurant 80th Birthday blowout at Wild Horse Pass Motorsport Park. In my younger days I remember Bob Bondurant very well. Like some other race car drivers he started off on motorcycles and then went on to cars....driving them all Le Mans, Formula One, Can-Am, NASCAR. He drove them all. After an accident that left him banged up he decided to open a High Performance Driving School. It celebrated its 45th year this year. He has trained many people that went into racing and many actors like James Garner, Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood, Robert Wagner, Tim Allen, Tom Cruise and Nicolas Gage. He has packed a lot of life into his 80 years.

SPECIAL OF THE WEEK

1948 DODGE POWER WAGON

THIS 1948 DODGE POWER WAGON IS IN BEAUTIFUL, MINT CONDITION. MECHANICALLY SOUND, THERE IS NO RUST ANYWHERE. OAK WOOD BED AND TRIPLE COATED WITH MARINE VARNISH. TRUCK WAS RE-PAINTED ABOUT 13 YEARS AGO AND STILL LOOKS GREAT. IT HAS A DIRECT-DRIVE 8 TON WINCH IT DOES WORK. OVERSIZE MICHELIN RADIALS LOOK GREAT AND GIVE IT A BIT MORE SPEED. I CAN'T SAY IF IT HAS THE ORIGINAL ENGINE, BUT IT IS A CORRECT 230 CUBIC INCH FLATHEAD STRAIGHT SIX. THE ENGINE IS VERY STRONG, DOESN'T BURN A DROP OF OIL, AND THE TEMPERATURE STAYS AT 160' NO MATTER HOW LONG IT RUNS IN THE HEAT. THE 4-SPEED TRANSMISSION SHIFTS SMOOTHLY (AS LONG AS YOU KNOW HOW TO CLUTCH - IF NOT, GET OUR GRANDPA TO TEACH YOU HOW). IT'S JUST A BEAUTIFUL TRUCK THAT TURNS HEADS EVERYWHERE IT GOES. IF YOU'RE SERIOUS ABOUT OWNING A SOLID, ORIGINAL POWER WAGON, YOU WON'T FIND A FINER EXAMPLE OUTSIDE OF A MUSEUM.

INDYCAR IN TEXAS - RACE TWO

SCOTT DIXON - 2ND, WILL POWER -1ST, JAMES HINCHCLIFFE - 3RD

After his win in race one, Scott Dixon was in the lead again for race two, but half way through Will Power passed him and went on to win. Dixon came in second and James Hinchcliffe third. The points that Dixon got in this race now puts him in the championship lead. That means that the last race of the season, in California on the 19th, will be the championship decider.

Tony Kanaan had an accident which put him out of the race and left him in 24th, last place.

Takuma Sato, on the very last lap his car got loose and he was struck by Dario Franchitti and then hit again by E.J. Viso. It was a terrible accident leaving Franchitti with a fractured spine and ankle. Sato's official finish was 14th.

FORMULA ONE IN KOREA

 KIMI RAIKKONEN - 2ND, SEBASTIAN VETTEL - 1ST, ROMAIN GROSJEAN - 3RD
This is really a good track, but rumor has it that it may be dropped from the schedule for next year. Apparently it just hasn't worked for the promoters. Sebastian Vettel, fourth win in a row, does it again...out in front forever leaving all the action behind him. The two main fights were for 4th place and 10th place, the last of the points. Once Kimi Raikkonen got passed his teammate that settled who got second and third. That hotly contested 4th place went to Nico Hulkenburg and the 10th place went to Sergio Perez.

Mark Webber's string of bad luck continued today. Starting in 13th from his 10 place penalty he worked his way up to 3rd. Then it got ugly. Two pit stops in a row due to bad tires and then he got hit by Adrian Sutil. Setting his car on fire which became a total loss. With only one week until the race in Japan the team has its work cutout for it.

INDYCAR IN TEXAS - RACE ONE

Everybody hates it when a race finishes under a yellow flag. Except the winners, of course. Scott Dixon, with is fourth win of the season, is a happy man. He entered the race with being 49 points down on the Championship roster and is now only 8 points down. He has won the Championship twice.

Simona De Silvestro came in second and I couldn't be happier for her. Her first podium finish. She seemed to have lost her punch since a crash and burn accident a couple of years ago. She has finally found herself or at least her car.

Justin Wilson came in third for his fourth podium finish this season

Tony Kanaan came in 21st. Still running, but after many, many problems.

Takuma Sato, who started out in the pole position, couldn't buy a race to save his life. He also had many problems throughout the race and an accident near the end, completing 82 laps. His position at the end was 17th.
