FORMULA ONE IN MEXICO

Viva la Mexico!! After 23 years Formula One finally returns to Mexico. An $85 million dollar spruce-up and it is a brand new track. All tickets were sold months ago. An unheard of 105,000 people showed up for qualifying and 120,000 for the race. Amazing! In the winner's circle was Nico Rosberg followed every so closely by Lewis Hamilton. Only one second separated them. Valtteri Bottas came in third.

The race itself was kind of 'ho-hum.' Too bad because the track is fantastic. Sergio Perez, the only Mexican driver, came in eighth. He is the eighth Mexican driver to ever appear in Formula One.

Massa came in 6th and Hulkenburg 7th.

Only two races left to the season. Below is a statue of the Rodriguez brothers, Pedro and Ricardo, both drivers back the 60's. Pedro died in 1971, at the age of 31. in a sports car race in Germany. Ricardo died in 1962, at the age of 20, during practice for the Mexican Grand Prix.
