Long established, the vintage and classic car division holds regular events in a dedicated area within the auction rooms. Simon Charles has built substantial experience in marketing and holding these auctions over the years, supporting them with a range of associated services to maximise awareness and the auction value of the vehicle. The classic car and vintage motor auction is in the middle, being focused on cars and motorbikes with collectors in mind.
The classic vehicle auction is held every two months with up to 150 cars and motorbikes, plus between 300 and 500 automobilia lots. Automobilia encompasses every aspect of transport related memorabilia including literature, mascots, artwork, luggage, engine spares, lamps, bicycles, motor racing memorabilia. The classic car auction is gaining momentum (no pun intended) with buyers and sellers from all over the world, and this community is informed using a variety of marketing tools, including colour catalogues, national mailings, telephone and email announcements.

FORMULA ONE IN GERMANY
This race showed why Alonso is Alonso. In today's crazy race, which left many cars hydroplaning off the track, Alanzo came in first with Massa following 8 seconds later. Third went to Mark Webber. Mark was one of two drivers that flipped the low-slung Mercedes in Le Mans back in 1999...I think it was '99. What a picture that was.
So, where did Hamilton end up in this mess. Ninth place after starting in 17th and being one of the ones to look like a hydroplane. Because his engine kept running he was allowed to continue the race. His historic ride of nine podium finishes in a row has come to an end. I missed that big, broad smile at the races end. He actually stated in 10th, but after he went off the track his new position was 17th on the restart. Yes, I said restart, I can't remember the last time I saw a red flagged Formula One race.

2ND ANNUAL CLASSIC CAR AUCTION

MGF CONCEPT CAR
Back in 1998 MG kicked out a concept car of 200 bhp on a 1.8 litre engine. The shape has been altered which you would expect of a concept car. A chrome center console, 17 inch wheels, leather on everything and a nice look. I maintain that most concept cars are meant to be viewed from a distance to cover up flaws and fake accessories. This is no different in the fact that the tonneau cover, which was supposed to be made from carbor-fibre, was no more than fibreglass and duct tape according to MG Enthusiast. One of the filler caps is fake, it has a radio antenna with no radio and some items not attached like one would like. Some never run, no engines, no transmissions, etc.
Concept cars don't usually make it to the general public very soon. Usually retained by the auto company or its designer. The owner bought it from MG when they were selling everything off before the Nanjing takeover. For some reason he didn't hang on to it and had it auctioned off by Coys at the end of May. It was sold in the neighborhood of 13,500 GBP and now rests with the auto dealer JOHN BROWN. They have it on the market for 18,950 GBP and can be reached at:

INDYCAR AT NASHVILLE
Now what would you expect from Nashville. Scott Dixon is the winner yesterday after a 24 hour rain delay. With only six races left it will be interesting to see what happens. He was followed across the line by Dario Franchitti and Danica Patrick. Dixon and Franchitti are now close to each other in the point system with Franchitti just out in front.

MILKMAN DELIVERS
The Barber family has been in the milk business in Alabama since the 1930s, steadily growing and cultivating its trademark until it became one of the American South's most important milk producers. When the founder's son, George, was in his teens and twenties, he was bitten by the racing bug, piloting, modifying and maintaining Porsches to 63 first-place finishes in his career.
As his racing endeavors gave way to more leisurely pleasures, he began collecting and restoring vintage cars in the late 1980s, but his interest soon turned to vintage vehicles of a two-wheeled variety. Barber realized pretty quickly that there wasn't a museum that truly celebrated the history of motorcycles from around the world.
Barber began voraciously collecting motorcycles, and opened the doors to his original museum in 1995, which was located in Birmingham, Alabama's, south side. The museum displayed one of the most enviable collections in existence. So enviable, in fact, that when the Guggenheim Museum in New York City pulled the wraps off of its phenomenally successful Art of the Motorcycle exhibit in 1998, Barber's collection made up the bulk of the bikes on display.
In 2002, Barber closed his original museum and set about building a motorsports park, which would include not only the museum, but a 2.3-mile, 16-turn, world-class racing facility, as well, which is visible from any of the museum's floors.
The collection housed in the museum includes well over 1,000 motorcycles and 50 cars. At any given time, an astounding 550 motorcycles are on display. Jeff Ray, the museum's executive director, noted that the cars on display are positioned among the motorcycles to set the time period for that part of the exhibit.
Unlike many museums, many of the motorcycles in this collection are used regularly. Barber runs a vintage motorcycle race team out of the facility, and has collected seven national championships. The museum is also responsible for restoring the bikes on display, and houses a full restoration facility on site. That said, many of the bikes in the collection are new, original, or unrestored.
Also housed within the collection is a research library, which is one of the largest collections of motorcycle books in the world, with over 5,000 titles. Barber also commissioned sculptor Ted Gall to create several imposing, transportation-themed sculptures on display outside the facility.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT
This year is the 125th anniversary of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. The college is having their homecoming and anniversary celebration this weekend and including classic professional car show. "What!", you say. Well, the professional car is loosely defined as a custom-bodied vehicle, based on passenger car styling, and used in the funeral, rescue or livery services. Such vehicles may be hearses, flower cars, service cars, ambulances, limousines, or cars which are special built to combine two or more of these different functions, such as combination hearse-ambulances, sedan ambulances. I should think that this would include classic taxicabs such as the London Taxi and the huge Checker Cab. If I am wrong I stand corrected. Also this weekend The Professional Car Society is also having their 31st Annual International Meet in Los Angles, California. International it is with chapters all over the United States plus Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom. If you would have any interest, and interesting they are, in this type of automotive history or their shows you can contact them at:

Toward the end of June Detroit's Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village had a car show that had 900 cars show up. They were everywhere. Even the local newspaper got tired of taking pictures. The cars ranged in age from 1933 to 1973 with a few surprises like the one-of-a-kind 1949 Vauxhall in the picture below.

FORMULA ONE AT SILVERSTONE...ENGLAND
Räikkönen in first place followed by Alonzo. Sports announcers and writers were beating up on Hamilton for not winning his 'home' race since he started out in pole position. Come on give me a break, better yet, give Hamilton a break. This is not an easy job. Sure he was disappointed, sure his fans were disappointed, but consider this...he was on the podium for the ninth time in a row...and nobody else has ever done it.
CHAMPCAR AT TORONTO, CANADA
INDYCAR AT WATKINS GLENN, NEW YORK
So, Dixon wins. He is a happy camper, oops, pardon the pun, since this race was sponsored by Camping World.
Below is a video of Sam Hornish Jr. who came in 2nd and Tony Kanaan (4th) getting in a fight after the race. Hornish claiming that Kanaan bumped him. Intentional bumping in open-wheel racing is foolhardy at best and I don’t think that today’s crop of drivers to it. I haven’t seen what looked like an intentional bump since the late 90’s when driving wizard Michael Schumacher did the bump with Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve. Very stupid on his part. This took place at Watkins Glen, New York which was one of my favorite tracks back in the 60’s. In those days it was also the home of USA Formula One. I saw many a fine driver there and at Mosport Park in Canada…great memories.
